Here start our challenges ……
Mount Kinabalu (Malay: Gunung Kinabalu) is a prominent mountain on the island of Borneo in Southeast Asia. It is located in the east Malaysian state of Sabah and is protected as Kinabalu National Park, a World Heritage Site. Kinabalu is the tallest peak in Borneo’s Crocker Range and is the 4th tallest mountain in the Malay Archipelago after Indonesian Papua’s Puncak Jaya, Puncak Trikora and Puncak Mandala.
In 1997, a re-survey using satellite technology established its summit (known as Low’s Peak) height at 4,095 metres (13,435 ft) above sea level, which is some 6 metres (20 ft) less than the previously thought and hitherto published figure of 4,101 metres (13,455 ft).

We tell ourselves many many times – ” WE CAN DO IT ”

Our breakfast … ate as full as we can so that have energy to finish the trail …
Our porter, Rowdy ; Our bag with total weight of 25kg which he charged us RM9 per kg.
Took a group photo together with the porter before we started our journey.
Start the journey : 8.50 a.m.
There are two trails leading up to Mount Kinabalu: Timpohon & Mesilau. From my personal view point, I would feel Mesilau would be a better trail. Although the trail is longer but less steps. Mesilau trail is 10.72km while Timpohon is 8.72km to reach the top.
From the beginning of the track, it is headed downhill for the first kilometer. I would say this was the easiest part of the climb. Enjoy yourself by taking some nice photos of the scenery.
You would see a waterfall on your right not far from your starting point. After this part, begin the journey with the winding upward track.
Our face still look good?
Half way of the Mesilau Trail … …
OMG …. Pls see the trail ….
Keep going !
I nearly want to “pengsan”!
We almost reached Laban Rata which is the half way of the Mount Kota Kinabalu.
Finally we reached Laban Rata – 8km for the whole track. We took nearly 8 hours to reach here (8.50 am – 5 pm).
