During our third day in KK (8th June), we went to Pulau Tiga which is also called as Survivor Island.

“The Pulau Tiga Marine National Park has soared to world fame as ‘Survivor Island’ because of the popular Million Dollar Prize Money TV series ‘Survivor’ by the CBS TV network, USA. This is the exact island that the entire first series was filmed! The fact that this island was chosen was due to its untouched natural landscape and marine life.”

This photo was taken in the van when we was on the way to Kuala Penyu Jetty.
Pick Up from BeacHouse and transferred to Kuala Penyu Jetty for take a boat ride approximately 30 minutes to Pulau Tiga. We got the opportunity to experience nature and at the same time enjoy the serenity of this unique island. The blue sea invites us to jump in for a swim.

These two shots were taken when we waited at the Kuala Penyu Jetty.

Survivor Island….Here we come….

The beach…..

A few shots of the Pulau Tiga….
When arrived at Pulau Tiga Resort, we were greeted by a “Survivor Island” sign. “A “wild man” sculpture is another reminder of its Survivor legacy.”

This is the Survivor Island sign.
The main attraction of Pulau Tiga would be its Mud Volcanoes.

“Mud volcanoes are formed when natural gas builds up enough pressure to escape along cracks in the earth’s surface, carrying with it mud, water, and rocks. Pulau Tiga is believed to have been formed by the eruption of several mud volcanoes. There are 3 volcanoes all together. The last violent eruption occurred in 1941 when the eastern volcano erupted. The eruption was heard as far as 160 km away and almost 30 hectares of forest was smothered with boiling, hot liquid mud. Thankfully, the volcanoes are now largely dormant. Every few hours, bubbles of gas rise to the surface and splatter cold mud over the surrounding vegetation. Near to the mud volcanoes are mud pools, not unlike those that buffaloes wallow in. The nearest one is about 30 minutes trek through the jungle.”

This is just the beginning of the jungle trail….

This is the jungle trail which led to the Mud Volcano.
We need to walk around 15 – 30 minutes trek through the jungle to reach one of the Mud Volcano. We were told that soak in the pool of volcano would smoothen and beautify our skin. This was like a natural mud spa. This was considered one of the unique and fun experiences as we are hardly can try it at another place.

My first feeling when I saw this place…. Hmmm… Really want to soak my whole body in this Mud? Seem so “geli”…

Half of our body in the mud, felt so uncomfortable…Do not know how to describe the feeling when started to soak ourselves in it.

Started to apply to all over our body except our heads. Soon was the one to be the lead to soak his head into the mud.

More get used to it… Good experience….

Wow…mudman and mud women….take one group shot…
Shinn Shinn, Pei Ling and Soon – how much would you all grade this natural mud spa? I have no comment as I did not feel any difference at all after soaking in the mud pool for 15 minutes. Getting out of the pool, the mud began to become harden on our body. We need to walk back the same trek to wash ourselves. Really a hard trail for us as it was so difficult to walk with our sandals but if we bare feet, we would get hurt easily. In addition, we were getting eaten alive by the mosquitoes although our whole bodies were covered by mud. One regret thing was we did not take many photos when we were mudman and mudwomen.

Our look in this way while we still needed to walk trhough the jungle trek to clean up.

Took this photo before we left the Snake Island…
The second activities would be travelled to the Snake Island by taking 20 minutes boat. It is a tiny little famous island as a matting location for highly poisonous sea snakes. We were told that the snakes hunt in the sea at night and they rested in the morning. Mostly they will relax under in the middle of the stones on the shore.

Walking around the Snake Island to look for the snakes….
We followed our guide who searched and turned those movable rocks in order to find the snakes with an anxious feeling. After a busy searching time, he managed to show us a few snakes which were resting underneath the rocks. Although the snakes are very thin but the level of poisonous cannot be ignored.

Wow….finally managed to find the snakes…
More photos about my Pulau Tiga trip will be updated in the next post.
